We are hiring a skilled and responsible Blood Bank Technician to join our laboratory team focused on the production of human platelet lysate (hPL) from expired platelet units. This role is ideal for a technician with blood banking experience who is looking to contribute to research and regenerative medicine by utilizing otherwise discarded biological materials in a high-quality, GMP-compliant setting.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and log expired Platelet Concentrate (PC) and Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) units from certified blood bank
- Follow SOPs for the preparation of human platelet lysate from expired platelet units
- Perform quality control checks, including sterility screening, pH, turbidity, and contamination assessment
- Operate centrifuges, freezers, plasma extractors, and related laboratory equipment
- Handle biological material safely and ensure traceability of all processed batches
- Maintain cleanroom hygiene and aseptic processing standards
- Document every step in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and/or GMP requirements
- Assist with storage, labeling, inventory, and batch release processes
- Coordinate with the quality assurance team for batch review and audit readiness
Eligibility
- Diploma / B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/BMLT) or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a licensed blood bank or transfusion laboratory
- Familiarity with handling expired blood components for research purposes (preferred)
- Knowledge of blood grouping, serological testing, and aseptic techniques
- Experience with centrifugation, freezing protocols (-80°C), and biosafety practices
- Ability to follow SOPs, maintain records, and work in a regulated environment
- Basic knowledge of regulatory standards such as NABL, NACO, or CDSCO is desirable
